Pre-treatment

Bowker Machinery has been manufacturing or refurbishing cleaning and preparation systems specifically for the powder coating industry for nearly two decades.

The needs of the modern powder coater for a compact powerful and compact off line pre-treatment system has led to the development of our Auto Wash system.

The Auto Wash is like a giant dishwasher that prepares steel work for powder coating. The products are simply placed into the top loading chambers which are usually one metre wide and one metre deep. The Auto Wash is available in lengths of 2, 3, 4, and 6 metres.

The fully automatic model performs four stages with timing facility on each stage. A typical full cycle time is of 18 minutes.

Stage1 : Both the chamber and component is heated forty degrees Celsius to soften contaminates.

Stage 2: Spray wash with detergents and or phosphate solution at fifty degrees Celsius.

Stage 3: Spray rinse with clean water

Stage 4: Hot air drying at one hundred degrees Celsius.

  Important points of note regarding the Auto Wash are that large pumps are used to ensure a powerful washing action, low running costs are achieved implementing our solution recycling system, the rinse water can be pumped to waste, and there are no build up of environmental problems, the system is energy efficient due to insulation and because the heating and drying is achieved through the use of gas burner. We have a range of new and used phosphate tunnel wash systems available

We can offer a selection of in line detergent cleaning and phosphate preparation tunnels. All refurbished tunnels include new burner tubes, and new internal pipe work and spraying nozzles.

All of our plants can be modified to suit customer requirements. We also have trichloroethylene vapour dipping tanks in a variety of sizes that have been modified to comply with current legislation standards. 

Trichloroethylene can be an ideal preparation method for customers undertaking low volume work, or are limited by the size of their premises. We are happy to advise on pre-treatment preparation methods, and advise of the best method of preparing any job.
